One Woman's Journey Across Five Books
You know that moment when everything you believed about your life, your safety, your own strength gets stripped away? A moment when you realize someone you trusted isn’t who you thought they were? And maybe you're not who you thought you were? That's where Mia's story begins.
I didn't set out to write five books. But as I dove into Mia's world, I discovered something crucial: transformation doesn't happen overnight. Real change—the kind that takes you from victim to survivor to someone who fights back—requires time. It demands we face our demons, fail, get up, and fail again before we find our power.
When Mia rappels out of a third-story window to escape her abusive-turned-deadly husband, she's no former black-ops trained superhero: she’s just a half-ass-prepared woman in fear for her life—like you and I would be. Her only thought? Survive the next hour. But here's what fascinated me as a writer: the journey from hunted to hunter isn't linear. It's messy. It's painful. And it's utterly, authentically human.
Through five books, Mia evolves the way real people do—incrementally, imperfectly, courageously. She's forced to accept truths she didn’t want to know; master forms of self-defense she never imagined needing; and overcome fear she’d denied for most of her life. She learns that helping others escape their own nightmares begins to heal her own wounds. She realizes that true agency isn't about becoming fearless; it's about acting despite the fear.
Each book captures a different stage of this metamorphosis. Because whether we're talking about leaving an abusive relationship, overcoming life’s traumas, or simply finding our voice in a world that tried to silence us, genuine transformation takes time. It takes falling down and getting up. It takes discovering that the skills we develop to survive can become the tools we use to thrive.
Mia's five-book journey mirrors what I've witnessed (and yes, in some cases lived) in real life: we're all capable of becoming more than our circumstances. We just need time to remember who we really are.
